We hiked this section on June 16, 2007.
We were lucky today because we only had to bring one car. Dirigo’s co-worker Julie wanted to attend the ranger talk titled "Big Meadows" at the Byrd visitor center so she dropped us off at Skyland around 9 AM. We agreed to meet up with her at the visitor center in the afternoon.
The footing was very rocky at times but it was a great hike. We met 2 thru-hikers near Hawksbill Mt. and had a nice talk (too bad we can't remember their trail names).
On our way down to the Rock Spring Hut, Python saw a huge tom turkey. We stopped for a short break at the hut and heard a very loud group staying at the PATC cabin just down the trail.
