We hiked this section on September 15, 2012.
Dirigo dropped Python off at Reservoir Rd and drove up to the Blue Ridge Parkway to do a key exchange.
Hiking north you start downhill and cross a dirt road and head up hill. There are a few PUD’s on this section, and the downhills are hard on the feet. At a little more than 2.5 miles in you ascend Rice Mountain.
Python passed a thru-hiker talking with a trail runner and when Dirigo ran into him, he had just crossed a trail junction and was walking around looking for the white blaze. He asked where the AT was and was pointed in the right direction.
It was a beautiful day for hiking and not real hot but warm enough for shorts and a t-shirt. The acorns were falling all around us, and on the descents you had to be real careful not to slide on them and fall.
The are 2 springs on this hike but both were very dry.
