Browns Gap to Post near Loft Mtn Amphitheater (3.00 Miles)

We hiked this section on December 22, 2007.

The Skyline Drive in the Central District was closed as a result of an ice storm. Crews were working to clear fallen trees and limbs. The North and South Districts were open.

Apparently, the ice storm also took down some trees in the South District. Temperatures were in the high 30's during our hike.

The fog was thick as pea soup during our drive to the trail head! Fortunately, we could always see the footpath and the white blazes during our hike.

We got sprinkled with rain throughout the hike and kept adjusting our clothes when we got hot or cold.

We saw 2 female wild turkeys near the road on our drive to the trail head. We also a pretty big doe during our hike. We tried to move debris off the trail but some things were just
too big!

We have finished hiking the AT in Shenandoah National Park! Thank you Shenandoah – we will miss you!
