We did this hike on August 23, 2007 – 4 days after hiking Mt. Katahdin.
Python's knees hurt all day long!
We passed 2 male thru-hikers on the Tote road around 7:20 AM. We could have driven a mile pass the white blazes on the tote road but we decided to hike it.
Saw a moose on the North end of the Tracy Pond but the picture didn't come out.
The day was overcast and cool.
The woods were quiet and it was wonderful walking on pine needles.
We decided to break for lunch at Big Niagara and give our tired knees and feet a break (also took some Advil).
We also enjoyed watching 2 fools who were taking a swim in the falls.
The bridge at the upper branch of Nesowadnehunk stream was still in place and fortunately it had chicken wire on the surface for traction.
Once we reached the upper branch of Nesowadnehunk stream, we lost the trail! We walked the bank several times looking for the white blazes. We think the white blaze was on one of the trees that had fallen over.
We finally found a make shift bridge built with several old logs and a guide rope. Dirigo volunteered to test out the bridge to make sure it was safe. She scooted on her butt across the logs while holding onto the guide rope.
Linda and Charlie picked us up at Abol Bridge store with blue berry pie. Python learned that hiking in pain all day is no fun and doesn't want to wear her backpack for a long long time!
