Stealth camp near Crawford Pond to Jo-Mary Road (6 miles)

We did this hike on August 13, 2008.

Before we broke camp, Dirigo went to the lake to filter more water but her filter got jammed; Shoe lent Dirigo her filter.

The trail was still muddy and we encountered a lot of slippery bog logs. We got passed by 2 NOBO thru hikers (Sleepwalker and a young red headed kid from Jay, Maine).

We met the mother & son flip-floppers named Just Jill and Rockhopper just south of the Cooper Brook Falls Lean-to.

Dirigo took their picture at the ATC in Harpers Ferry and they remembered her.

We took a break at the Cooper Brook Falls Lean-to and took advantage of the wonderful privy.

Someone had left 3 bags of brown rice, a fuel canister, rope, and cooking pots at the Lean-to.

We were so happy to reach Jo-Mary Road and see Dirigo's truck! We all took off our muddy boots and applied massive amounts of deodorant to mask our foul odors.

We drove into Millinocket and got rooms at the EconoLodge. When we were doing laundry, we met several other hikers and Dirigo told them about the jammed filter. She brought the filter to one of the hikers and he showed her how to take it apart and clean it. He also gave her a little scrubbing pad to clean the filter.

We also met an interesting thru hiker named Lucky. Lucky was going to summit Katahdin and then drive down to Bland, VA and hike south to Springer to finish his thru hike.
