Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting Moment

This is a picture of Catawba (dog) and his owner in the Trail Days 2008 Hiker Parade.

Here is a picture of both of them one day earlier (owner is seated in blue behind the dog). As you can see both of them are in dire need of some grooming! When we saw Catawba on Friday night, we were appalled at the poor condition of his coat. We were initially mad at his owner for not taking better car of him.

But, we talked to the owner and he told us he found the dog wondering on the Appalachian Trail near Catawba, VA. The hiker adopted the dog and brought him to Trail Days for the free veterinary services.

We heard through the grapevine that both of them hiked together all the way to Maine!
