We hiked this section on March 2, 2008.
This was our first hike with Fairway. Python met Fairway on the Yahoo Women's Hiking group. Fairway is going to start at Springer in April.

We came across a train car and there was a lot of graffiti on the Train.

We crossed the Train tracks and looked both ways as there was a Caution sign.
We came to a stream that normally is just a trickle but it was very high. Python went in and got her boots wet. I jumped from rock to rock.
We stopped at the James Fry Shelter and it had a very nice privy.

It was a compost privy and it had a really cool pulley system with a rock on the door to keep it closed and so the critters can't get in.
We totally enjoy hiking in the snow. We came to the Half-way point on the AT. It was marked by a tall sign with north and south and the mileage to Springer/Katahdin.

We will come back to Pine Grove Furnace in the summer to eat some ice cream.
