We hiked this section on October 7, 2012.
We dropped off Knitting Bull’s car at 22 and then took Dirigo’s truck to 55. We started hiking around 9:15 and it was 46 degrees.
The trail was nice and gentle and within no time we were at Nuclear Lake. The trail goes around the lake and we took our time taking pictures at different angles to try to capture the reflection of the leaves in water.
We had a nice lunch at the Telephone Pioneer Shelter.
There was a flowing stream just before the shelter and there was a privy behind the shelter. There were 3 plastic jugs of rain water.
It was still drizzling when we finished lunch and we put on our rain gear because we were cold.
We crossed 20 and saw the huge Dover Oak.
We then walked through several fields and then went back into the woods.
We then descended to the beautiful bridge and boardwalk over the Great Swamp. The bridge and boardwalk were officially opened in July of this year.
Near the end of the boardwalk we saw a beaver’s house.
Yeah, we finally reached the train station!
