We hiked this section on November 10, 2013.
We meet Karen at Routes 7/112 and then took Dirigo’s truck to West Cornwall Bridge Road. We started hiking around 10:45 and the sky was overcast but the temperature was in the mid 40’s.
We quickly warmed up while ascending toward the Pine Swamp Brook shelter.

We reached the CT “Lemon squeezer” and Velcro did great on the rocks. We even let Velcro off-leash at times because of the slippery and rocky terrain. Fortunately all the dog training with Sit Stay Dog Training paid off and she stayed on the trail.
It had already started to drizzle so we didn’t want to stop at the shelter.
The trail was nice and gentle but the wet leaves made it very slippery. We heard motor bikes as we approached Sharon Mountain Road and Velcro was initially spooked by the noise.
Velcro knew that Karen was carrying Perky Jerky so she kept looking for hand outs. Sorry Velcro, no Perky Jerky for you.
The rest of the hike was small ups and downs so Karen called it PUDnecticut.
By the time we started our final descent to the road, the rain had stopped and we started to see rays of sunshine! Then we started to see some wonderful colors on this side of the mountain.

There were brilliant greens and pinks – it was a perfect ending to our hike.

When we reached Belter’s Campsite we knew we were very close to the road! Seriously, did they need a sign for a bump?

Once we got to the road, Python and Velcro walked up to another parking lot on Route 7 that was in the sunlight while Karen drove Dirigo back to her truck. After that, we all headed to the Toymakers Cafe in Falls Village for huge juicy hamburgers! Even Velcro got a hamburger!
